KOTA KINABALU : Lahad Datu assemblyman Datuk Yusof Apdal was released after being under Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC)’s remand for six days.

Prosecuting officer Faliq Basirudin said Yusof was released on MACC’s bail of RM100,000 with RM50,000 deposit with two sureties.

Magistrate Cindy McJuce Balitus issued the release at 10.05am.

The assemblyman also has to report to MACC office once a month.

Yusof was arrested by MACC on October 17 and remanded six day starting Oct 18 to facilitate investigations into the alleged embezzlement of development funds for Sabah amounting to RM1.5 billion.

The politician is also the younger brother of Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

The development projects were under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry of which Shafie was the then-minister and the projects were implemented from 2009 to 2015.
