MIRI: A nine-foot crocodile, said to be the one that had been terrorising residents of a squatter settlement at RPR Batu 6 here, was caught yesterday – thanks to swift action by members of Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) under Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC)  .

Acting upon complaints from the public, the SWAT team arrived at 10am and set up two traps.

The reptile – discovered later to be a female – took the bait at 6pm, but the team was only able to subdue it around 9pm.

The crocodile was later transferred to a crocodile farm in Kuala Baram.

“Members of the public are reminded to notify the nearest Forest Department or SFC offices of crocodile sightings in their areas and not to take matters into their own hands as these reptiles are dangerous,” SFC said in a statement.
