MIRI: Cyber gambling has spread to the rural areas of Sarawak with a 37-year-old woman being arrested in Beluru, Marudi, about 80 kilometres or 2 hours’ drive from the city centre, last week.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the woman was nabbed at a shop in Beluru for providing cyber gambling reload services.

Police also arrested 55 individuals aged between 15 and 53 including 26 women, between Oct 23 and Oct 29, statewide.

“The woman is the caretaker of the shop while the owner is residing in Miri. We are still investigating the role of the owner before deciding to arrest because he was not present during the raid,” he said in a statement today. – Bernama
