BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Apart from the various investment incentives provided by Brunei Darussalam, the political stability and peaceful environment were conducive in the decision of United Arab Emirates-based Saahtain Group, producer of “100 percent Halal, Ready to eat Meals” to mark the start of operations for its Bruneian subsidiary, Saahtain Asia Sendirian Berhad. The company, which is a joint venture with His Majesty’s Government through the Ministry of Finance, held its official launching ceremony yesterday afternoon, brudirect.com reported
The ceremony was officially launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jamain bin Haji Julaihi, Deputy Minister for Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Hisham bin Haji Mohammad Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Finance; and Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment).
The official launching of the company is yet another significant achievement for His Majesty’s Government, supported by the Foreign Direct Investment and Downstream Industry Steering Committee, which was set up amongst others to ensure an integrated and streamline effort towards the attraction and realization of FDI projects in Brunei Darussalam. Currently, the company promotes three brands, namely Al Gourmet for general retail, The Food Pouch for military-grade ration packs and Tayyib, specifically produced for humanitarian aid purposes.
