SIBU: Students should always strive for excellence in both academic and co-curricular activities in order to become high achievers in life.

“The prize winners are true representation of everything that we stand for here at SMJK Tung Hua as these hard working, articulate young people are a credit to the school and an inspiration to us all,” remarked school management board chairman Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau.

He stressed that it is through such achievements that they are able to see the skills, high expectation and commitment of the staff and students at the school.

“These prize winners are great examples of what we hope for from our students,” he added.

Speaking at the school’s annual prize-day yesterday, he said: “On this day, we reflect on our past achievements and look to the future.”

Also present were principal Goi Nguok Yew, management board vice chairman Dr Michael Wong Soon Ting and old students association president Teresa Wong.

While calling for celebrations over the school’s achievements, Lau said they should not rest on their laurels but strive to do better.

He also emphasised the need to ensure that the students would excel not only in their studies but also in extra curriculum as well.
