BINTULU: Today’s young generations are very fortunate to have wider access to quality education, said Bintulu Education officer Fred Entau.

“Students now are very lucky to have easy access to unlimited sources of knowledge such as from the internet, for example.

“Learning now becomes easier and hence students should take full advantage of the unlimited reading and other educational materials available to excell in their studies,” he said at the  SMK Baru Bintulu excellence award ceremony held at Bintulu civic centre yesterday.

Fred said the country’s education system has improved compared to his days and even the teachers now are well-trained with high qualifications.

He said time has changed as well as the educational needs thus students have to be prepared physically and psychologically.

He also reminded the parents to keep an eye on their children’s outdoor activities and also to play their teaching role at home.

Parents, he said should not leave the whole teaching responsibility to teachers in school but they are the one who can really motivate their children while they were at home.

“The success of the children would reflect the commitment from teachers and parents,” Fred enthused.

School principal Rohani Daud, organising chairman Rahman Katiran, senior teachers, local community leaders and parents were present at the ceremony.

Earlier, Rohani in her speech elaborated on the achievements of the students both in academic and curricular activities.
