37,092 state candidates sit for SPM today until Dec 4

SIBU: A total of 37,092 candidates are sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) at 263 examination centres across the state today. The examination begins nationwide from today and ends on Dec 4.

Of the 37,092 candidates in Sarawak, 34,544 (93.13 per cent) are from national secondary schools, 1,083 (2.92 per cent) from private secondary schools and 1,465 (3.95 per cent) being private candidates.

“They will sit for SPM in 263 centres – 201 national secondary school centres, 12 private secondary school centres and 50 private centres throughout Sarawak,” state education director Rakayah Madon said in a press statement dated Nov 1.

She said there are 272 area supervisors and 2,087 invigilators appointed to supervise the examination throughout the state. Meanwhile, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), which also starts today, runs until Nov 28.

For STPM in Sarawak, Rakayah disclosed that there are 5,407 school candidates and 11 private candidates from Penggal 3 2017.

As for Penggal 1 2018 – 6,400 are school candidates, while three are private candidates, she said.

A total of 4,709 school candidates and 10 private candidates are sitting for Ulangan 1 2017, while Ulangan 2 2017 has 4,699 school candidates and eight private candidates.

For the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) written test on Saturday (Nov 4), a total of 2,632 sat for the examination at 49 examination centres in the state.
