SEMPORNA: Umno is not a colonist party, but a party that is supposed to bring blessings to the people in Sabah.

Sabah Umno deputy head of information, Datuk Ramlee Marhaban, said the existence of Umno in Sabah has to some extent succeeded in developing the society and the state.

He said since the beginning of its existence, Umno has worked hard to stabilize the political situation, develop the state and unite the people.

“Umno came to Sabah following the will of the majority of the people here and the alleged instability of the political situation at that time. It is a blessing to the people in Sabah as Umno is a party that is concerned about the people and committed to developing the state,” he said.

According to Ramlee, who is also the Assistant Finance Minister, Umno’s ability and excellence remained under the leadership of Umno Sabah liaison committee chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman.

He said Musa’s leadership had shown success in many aspects, including the economy.

“People in Sabah also get attention from the federal government that is always concerned about the people and the state.

“There is no other party such as Umno and Umno’s service to people could not be denied by any party,” he said when met after attending a programme with the Umno heads of branches, yesterday.

Earlier on his speech at the programme that aimed to provide explanation on current issues, Ramlee reminded heads of branches to play their respective roles.

Ramlee said as Umno members, they should respond on current issues, especially those involving slanders on the party and its leadership. He said as members, they should not keep silent when the party is slammed by the opposition.

“We should rise and give explanation based on the right facts on the issues raised by the opposition. Do not be afraid as we know what has been brought by the party for the well-being of the people,” he said.

According to Ramlee, the opposition is using current issues to inflict damage on the image of the party and its leadership. Therefore, he said, as the frontliners of the party, heads of branches should know about current issues in order to give proper explanation to the people so that they will not be influenced by the slanders.

Meanwhile, Ramlee reminded the opposition, especially those who are former members of Umno, to stop dreaming and point fingers at Umno. He said that what had happened is because of their own actions and they should pay for their actions.

He added that the opposition may keep spreading slanders and twist issues, but they should remember that people can evaluate which party is more concerned about them.
