E-sports festival promises satisfaction for players

KUALA LUMPUR: The four-day 2017 Cyberfest or E-Sports Festival  which will be held for the first time from Nov 24 in Empire City, Petaling Jaya is expected to attract 3,000 electronic sports enthusiasts.

Joint 2017 Cyberfest organiser, Mohd Badiuzzaman Khairul Anuar said the festival would have numerous activities including education exhibition, games and E-Sports competitions.

“The aim of the festival is to create an awareness among the public on the true world of E-Sports,”he told Bernama recently.

He said many still did not understand that E-Sports was a profitable sporting activity and was expanding fast.

“Our target is to reveal to the general public that gaming is something good and it is not a waste of time,” he said.

“We are holding this festival to show society about gaming and the future of this sport. It has good career potential and should be ventured into by the young who are interested,” he said.

Mohd Badiuzzaman said other than education exhibition and video games contest, Cyberfest would also have ‘tabletop’ games, LAN (local area network) party and the sales of goods related to the sports.

“An education exhibition on gaming will also be held highlighting high institutions of learning offering E-Sports games development courses,” he said.

He said, through Cyberfest, parents too could see job opportunities for their children as E-Sports athletes and also in the industry.

“Three main sports, namely, Dota 2, Counter Strike: GO and FIFA 18 with prizes totalling RM100,000 would also be contested at Cyberfest,” he added. – Bernama
