MIRI: A 26-year old Indonesian man was sentenced to three months’ jail by a magistrate’s court here yesterday for criminal intimidation on a woman, also an Indonesian.
Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa passed the sentence after taking into consideration many aspects including the accused guilty plea and mitigation, facts of the case, seriousness of the case and public interest
Pirman Hollang, 26, from Pari Pari South Sulawesi, Indonesia was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, upon conviction.
The court was told that the accused committed the offence by strangling the neck of Syarifah Devi Dian Sari and also threatened to burn her alive.
