TEGAS Digital Innovation Hub should be set up in other districts in Sarawak besides Kuching as a strategic collaboration to drive innovation and technology towards the digital age.

Safiee Ahmad (BN-Daro) said strategic partners under the initiative, such as MaGIC, Shell Malaysia, Swinburne University, SME Corp and Teraju provide a platform for business startups to learn and be guided in their venture into business.

“This is why I am suggesting to the state government to consider setting up similar hubs in other towns as well, which I believe will be able to help the government achieve the vision of propelling the state towards embracing the digital economy,” he added.

Safiee was debating the 2018 Budget at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

On another matter, Safiee highlighted the need for construction of the Daro clinic project, which has been approved with a budget of RM35 million.

The current clinic is operating temporarily at the Guest House of Daro Hospital after its premises was burnt down in a fire incident in 2015.

“With an average of 150 to 200 patients daily, there is a need for the construction to start as soon as possible to provide a better and conducive environment to the patients,” he said.
