LIMBANG: The state government will set up a special body in an effort to resolve the outstanding Native Customary Rights (NCR) land dispute and overlapping claims faced by the Malay community in Limbang.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the committee will be placed under the supervision of the Malay Association of Limbang (PML).
“This special body will be tasked with managing the NCR lands perimeter survey and issuance of the land titles which involves the land of Malay villages in the district.
“The procedures will be done in accordance with the state land code,” Abang Johari announced after launching the 70th Malay Association of Limbang Anniversary Celebration at the Limbang Malay Community Development Center here today.
To this effect, Abang Johari said the state government will bring this matter to the attention of the federal government in order to obtain funds for the NCR land perimeter survey project.
He pointed out that the NCR perimeter survey effort was needed to ensure the Malay community in Limbang will not be left out from the mainstream development agenda.
He told the Malay community in the district that by resolving the NCR land disputes, the state government will be allowed to proceed with the plan to develop the entire area into a satellite city, like what had been done to Kampung Jepak and Sebarang Sungai in Kemena, Bintulu.
Also present were the chief minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and other ministers.
