‘Stop baseless accusation against Darul Hana project’ — Dr Abdul Rahman

KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi wants a stop to negative speculations against the Sungai Bedaun residential development project on social media platforms.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also the Darul Hana development and communication committee chairman said baseless accusations will have adverse effect on the implementation of the project.

“There are certain individuals who are confused after reading the news relating to the project. Lately, they have been expressing their feelings on social media platforms as well as by hanging a banner to get their message across,” said Dr Abdul Rahman in a press conference on the sideline of the State Legislative Assembly meeting yesterday.

He clarified that the project which is part of the Darul Hana re-development is to provide the extended family members of those affected by the Darul Hana project to own their own homes.

Developed by the Land Custody and Development Authority (Pelita) and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW), the project is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2018 and completed within two years.

The project site which sits on a 195 acre of land along Jalan Sultan Tengah will be able to accommodate at least 508 units of mixed residential properties.

A total of 12 villages are to be relocated to the Darul Hana project namely Kampung Boyan, Kampung Gersik, Kampung Surabaya Ulu, Kampung Surabaya Hilir, Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu, Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Pulo Ulu, Kampung Pulo Hilir, Kampung Bintawa Ulu, Kampung Bintawa Tengah and Kampung Bintawa Hilir.

Currently, phase one of the Darul Hana project is currently ongoing with the construction of Blocks 1A and 2A involving more than 480 unit of houses and is expected to be completed in early 2020.

Those affected under phase one are from Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Pulo Ulu.
