KUCHING: The 75 interim teachers who were terminated on October 31 will receive calls from the Malaysian Education Service Commission (SSP) soon, in regards to their interviews and tests, said Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong.

When met by reporters earlier today during the DUN sitting, Manyin addressed the issue of the emergency motion filed by Wong King Wei (DAP-Padungan) on the termination of the interim teachers.

“I have previously fought for their termination sometime in June, and the Minister of Education agreed to extend their service to October 31 and that they would take their psychometric tests and interviews during that period.

“According to SPP chairman Tan Sri Dr Haili Dolhan, they (interim teachers) will follow instructions from the Ministry of Education and once they are asked to interview, they will interview.

“However what is missing is that those tests have not been conducted. So I told the SPP director last night that those test should be conducted as they are supposed to be the last chance for them (interim teachers),” he said.

Having failed the psychometric tests and interviews twice previously, this test will be the last chance for the interim teachers to qualify as permanent teachers, explained Manyin.

He also suggested that it would be better to conduct the interviews before the school starts next year and was told that the interim teachers will be getting calls soon.
