SUPP eyeing seven seats in GE14

MIRI: Sarawak United People’s Party will contest in seven parliamentary seats in the next general election (GE14) which is expected to be held in the first quarter of next year.

This was disclosed by the party’s Secretary-General Datuk Sebastian Ting Chew Yew yesterday.

The seats SUPP is eyeing are  Miri, Kuching , Stampin, Serian, Sarikei, Sibu and Lanang.

Ting who is also SUPP Piasau branch chairman was met after officiating at the SUPP Miri (Piasau) Branch Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at the hall of the branch.

“Potential candidates have gone down the field. We have worked hard. Triennial delegates conference (TDC) will be held in Kuching on Dec 22 and 23,” said Ting.

Ting said the party’s election machinery has been moving since last year.

“We are people-oriented party. We are not waiting for the election to come. We serve the people the people all the time,” he explained.

On the TGM, Ting praised the spirit of unity and cooperation among members as almost all party branche had organised the TGM which must be held within the period from Nov 1 to 15.

“All goes well. There is no competition. This shows the unity among members all over Sarawak,” he added.

He added that SUPP Piasau had received a total of 600 new members in the last  three years.
