MIRI: Several roads and residential areas in the city were inundated following continuous heavy rain since Sunday night.

Among the roads and areas affected were in Lutong, Tudan, Senadin and Taman Tunku.

The rain started around 9pm on Sunday and lasted till around 10am yesterday.

Parents sending their children to school in Lutong yesterday were forced to find alternative routes to get to the school as the main road to Lutong was flooded.

In Taman Tunku, residents in Jalan Durin, Jalan Daro and Jalan Sibu were on alert since Sunday night as their residential areas are flood-prone.

A resident, Junaidi Lai when contacted yesterday, said he was relieved that the floor water did not reach his parking area.

“I was worried because of the continuous rain since last night (Sunday) until early today (yesterday) that the water would rise while I had to go to work.

“Thankfully, the water only flooded the road,” he said.

In Tudan, several houses were affected by flash flooding but the water receded around 11am.

It is learned that Kampung Tengah in Bekenu was also hit by flash flood.
