KUALA LUMPUR: The government will ensure that Sarawak pepper production is consistent and capable of accommodating the global market demand, said Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur.
According to him, there is high demand for Sarawak’s quality pepper, especially in the European market.
“The effort is not only to extend the planting acres of Sarawak’s pepper plant but also to increase its quality so as to penetrate the markets of other countries besides Europe,” he said.
In addition, he said, the ministry together with the Malaysian Pepper Board would enhance cooperation with industry players to improve the quality of the Sarawak Pepper brand (Sarawak Pepper). — Bernama
