620 students create record for most number of people playing Ukelele

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 620 students from 24 primary schools and 32 nurseries in Johor Bahru entered the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the ‘Most Number of People Playing the Ukelele Instrument’ at an event, here.

The event was held at the Educity Stadium on Friday night, involving students aged four to 12.

They received the recognition after presenting three songs, namely Johor Muafakat, Mary Had a Little Lamb and Little Tiger, using the Ukelele.

The Malaysia Book of Records plaque was presented by MBOR manager Lee Poi Leng to the organiser, Grownce Sdn Bhd, an education agency.

Johor Tourism, Trade and Consumers Committee chairman Datuk Siew Kiong was also present.

The Guinness World Record for the most number of people playing the ukelele is 8,000, which was set in Hong Kong, in 2008. — Bernama
