SIBU: Residents of Rumah Martinus Nyuram in Sungai Assan are thankful to their elected representative, Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King for fulfilling his promise made in the last state election of building a feeder road to their longhouse.

An earth-breaking ceremony for the project was held yesterday, where United People’s Party (UPP) potential candidate for Lanang parliamentary constituency, Andrew Ting Kee Nguan was also present.

Once completed, the road will connect the longhouse with Ta Ann plantation road, and also the main road.

Longhouse chief Martinus said the Dudong constituents are fortunate to have a caring leader like Tiong.

“He is a genuine leader of good quality. Whatever he promises, he delivers,” he said when met after the ceremony yesterday.

In his brief remarks, Tiong expressed his hope that the feeder road, upon its expected completion by end of January next year, would provide a more convenient link for the longhouse folk to get to the main road near Lanang Bridge via Ta Ann Plantation road.

He said the road would be built at a cost of RM200,000 through an allocation from the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) fund.
