KUCHING: The Sarawak police together with their colleagues from Bukit Aman are currently tracking down a Facebook user who have posted a threat against Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Saturday.

In reply to the public poll posted by the group Sarawak For Sarawakians (S4S) – “Setelah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia, Apakah Perubahan yg Kitak maok” , the user started to slew out negative comments towards the government as well as threatening the life of the chief minister.

“We have received police reports against this user,” said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Awal when asked by the media on the matter after a dry run exercise in preparation for the World Islamic Economic Forum at Riverside Majestic Hotel this morning.

He added that the police are also working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to identify the user.

When asked if there are plans to shut down the page, Amer said the police and MCMC are still deliberating on it.

As of 1pm today, a total of six police reports have been received by the police; three in Kuching and one each in Padawan, Miri and Bintulu.

It is also expected that members from an online entrepreneur association will be lodging a similar report at the Kuching Sentral Police Station at 3pm today.
