KUCHING: Two players from SMK Bintulu – Raylence Ajeng Rajih and Miroslave Aricsson Alex Kim Hua – will be undergoing centralised training at the Sarawak Hockey Stadium in preparation for the National U14 Hockey Championship at Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur from Dec 8-17.

State coach Sri Sakrunathan @ Murti Subramaniam said the duo were selected based on their good performance at the recent SSC/MSNS Inter-Centre of Development For Hockey.

“Raylence and Miroslave are the only two players from Bintulu, three from Miri and two from Sibu while the rest are from Kuching.

“The centralised training will be conducted from Nov 25 until Dec 5 and we will be sending a finalised team of 18 players to the national meet,” he told The Borneo Post.

Sakrunathan will be assisted by Ali Rahman Rasid from SMK Bako while the team manager is Mahadir Mohamad from SMK Serian.

Raylence and Miroslave were among the 34 students from SMK Bintulu and five from SMK Mukah who had attended a training camp at the Sarawak Hockey Stadium from Nov 13-16.

It was good experience as they got to play on a full-size artificial hockey pitch for the first time.

The camp was conducted by Sarawak head coach C Sivasubramaniam who was assisted by Sakrunathan, Netty Elvis, Beatrice Sawin, Pamela Tia and Echa Samantha.
