Oliver battle Yeo brothers for SCC title

SAMARAHAN: Oliver Ting beat two brothers Anson Yeo and Bernard Yeo in a play-off to lift the men’s gross title of the Samarahan Country Club (SCC) Championship at SCC yesterday.

However, the play-off was held for three times at Hole 18 before Ting emerged the eventual winner.

He and the two junior golfers were tied on 153 score for the top place at the end of the two-day competition sponsored by Transview Golf Sdn Bhd.

Two strokes adrift in fourth place was Donny Inam and the fifth to eight spots were occupied by Michael Lee (164 OCB), Terence Chai (164), Chow Tung Leh (166 OCB) and Law Kim Yang (166).

Luqman Nul Hakim was the winner of the nett event after he returned a total score of 136, finishing four strokes ahead of Jalin George and four strokes ahead of Transview Golf managing director Then Su Yew who beat Calvin Soh OCB after both had similar score of 141.

Ismail Suhaili was in fifth place with a 142.

Meanwhile, the daily gross awards went to Gomez Bong who scored 78 on Day 1 and Wesley Chai with a 82 on Day Two.

The winners of the nett Day 1 and 2 were John Then Yu Bin (69) and Kevin Tan Kock Hin (70) respectively.

However, there were no winners for the hole-in-one prizes of Callaway Apex Iron Set worth RM4,899 at Hole 5 and Callaway XR Steelhead NSPRO Iron Set worth RM3,999 sponsored by Transview Golf, and RM1,000 sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors.
