MIRI: The SK Jalan Bintang parent-teacher association (PTA) treated 46 pupils to a Christmas shopping spree on Tuesday.

Under the annual programme, the pupils from low income families had the chance to select new clothes, shoes and accessories for Christmas accompanied by 33 teachers.

“Our objective is to help the underprivileged pupils and we hope with the cooperation from the PIBG (PTA), these children are not left behind in celebrating any activity or festival,” said PTA chairman Mohd Farez Samin.

“This programme has been conducted for all students from all races. During the previous fasting month, we had the same programme for Muslim students, where we also brought them to shop for their Raya outfits, and most importantly, we hope to bring cheer and joy to these pupils.”

Mohd Farez said the school ran a collection around two weeks prior.

“I am grateful with all the contributions that we have managed to get within that short period of time and I hope we will be able to get more for the same programme next time,” he added.

Boulevard Hypermarket also donated school bags to the pupils and goodies for the teachers as well.

Among those present were SKJB senior assistant (administration) Henry Madai, senior assistant (special education) Suhaila Sabeh, senior assistant (co-curriculum) Henry Edward Tarang, Boulevard Hypermarket operations manager (supermarket) Danny Lau Yu Chai, Boulevard Hypermarket operation manager (hardline) Ko Siew Lan, and marketing manager (group) Alan Lee Chee Leong.
