MPS and Hwa Kwang Shi Temple to hold Photography Contest

MIRI: The Miri Photography Society (MPS) and the Hwa Kwang Shi Temple here is organising a photography contest in conjunction with the opening of the temple.

According to contest’s organising chairwoman Anny Soo, the contest period will be from Dec 10 to 16, during which shutterbugs can capture photos of the sceneries and landscape of the temple.

Each participant can send up to five entries with each entry comprising two photos.

“Each entry must consist of two themes – (Group A) Hwa Kwang Shi Temple’s celebration photos of events that happen between Dec 10 to 15 and (Group B) landscape photos of the temple’s interior and exterior during day and night time between Dec 10 to 16. The photos must be saved in a compact disc (CD) for safety and convenience purposes.

“We want the photographers to not only enjoy taking the photos but also to enjoy being there too,” said Soo during a press conference.

Entry to the contest, she added, is free for MPS members, however, non-MPS members have to pay a RM20 fee.

Attractive prizes await the top three winners while consolation prizes will be given for the next best five photos.

The winner will receive RM1,200 cash prize and a trophy, first runner-up RM800 cash and trophy and second runner-up will walk home with RM500 cash prize and a trophy.

Consolation winners will each receive RM100 cash and a trophy.

Closing date for registration and submission is Dec 18.
