Canadian coach draws up plan for state’s athletics development

KUCHING: Canadian coach Daniel St Hilaire will draw up his recommendations and plans for the development of athletics in the state after conducting a five-day coaching course for local coaches which ended yesterday.

St Hilaire said judging from the enthusiasm of the participants who were mostly teachers he is confident that the course will have a positive impact of athletics in the state.

He added he will take up the challenge to produce athletes to make the State a power house at national and the international levels.

“I will sent a report on suggestions we designed for the best situations in sports development to Dr. Ong Kong Swee (Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO).

“I feel confident for I give them a target of what they want to be as coach in 10 years to have their mission.

St Hilaire had coached world class athletes including Canadian sprinter and long jumper Bruny Surin and high jumper Kwanku Boateng and former state sprinter Watson Nyambek.
