Sarawak secures RM1.2 billion copperfoil investment

KUCHING: Iljin Materials Co. Limited in Iksan, Republic of Korea has confirmed its decision to invest in Sama Jaya High Tech Park here for its copperfoil project valued at RM1.2 billion.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who led a delegation on an official visit to Seoul, said that Iljin Materials was very happy with the state government and its administration for the efficiency in processing the application.

“Originally, Iljin planned to invest outside Sarawak. However, the officials from the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development were able to convince Iljin to consider Sarawak as an alternative location,” he said in a press release yesterday.

“Subsequently, Iljin’s senior representatives made several visits to Sarawak and decided that Sama Jaya High Tech Park in Kuching was the best choice for their project,” he elaborated.

The official delegation comprised Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and SME Development Datuk Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Deputy State Secretary (Socio-Economic Transformation) Datu Ismawi Ismuni, Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development permanent secretary Datu Liaw Soon Eng, Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) chief executive officer Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot and Mida Seoul director Mohd Reduan Zabri.
