SIBU: Ling Soon Kiong emerged winner in the Group A Nett Category of the Semarak Golf Special held here the last weekend.
The first runner-up was Lawrence Nguoi, followed by Matthew Ha, Lau Hie Ping and Tang Tong Seng.
In Group B Nett, Lau Chiong Tiing was champion, followed by Thomas Yu, Tang Si Sin, Chew Ching Hock and Ngieng Ping Kiew.
Lee Ka Tung was the winner in the Gross section, followed by Lau Ching Leong, Winston Lau, Wong Lay Nam and Bryan Tiong.
In the Senior Section, the champion was Ting Siew Hock, followed by Ting Ping Hoo, Ting Sie Ing, Ting King King and Teng Swee Tiong.
About 100 local golfers took part in the annual event.
Semarak Group director Hii Tiong Kheng, who is Sibu Golf Club’s (SGC) deputy president, said the event was to promote golfing and to foster fellowship among the golfes.
He aded that Sibu has a beautiful and well maintained 18-hole golf course which must be fully utilized by members.
Golfing, he said, is a healthy sport which shoud be made more popular especially among the young.
