King presents awards, medals to 611 people

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V yesterday presented 2017 federal awards and medals conferred to 611 people.

Heading a list of nine recipients of the Darjah Johan Mangku Negara (JMN) was  Army Chief of General Staff of Western Region Field Headquarters Major General Datuk Tengku Ahmad Noor Tuan Chik.

Other recipients of the award were International Trade and Industry Sectoral Policy Division senior director Datin K Talagavathi, Higher Education Excellence Planning Division director Prof Dr Raha Abdul Rahim, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Social Sciences Anthropology and Sociology lecturer  Prof Dr P Sivamurugan and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) vice-chancellor Prof Dr Wahid Razzaly.

Public Service Department Research, Planning and Policy Division director Suhaime Mahbar; Pasar Raja Bot Umno Committee member Sharduli Abd Rahman; Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Supreme Council member Thien Kui Sang and Kota Raja MCA vice-chairman Wong Van Choy.

Sultan Muhammad V presented the Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) to 37 individuals, including former 12th Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier General (Rtd) Datuk Mohd Nazri Abidin and Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director (Strategic Planning) SAC Rusli Mohd Noor.

Lintang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun was among 118 people who received the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN).

Oliver Cuthbert Samuel and Mohamed Sarif Kalam, the two individuals who hoisted the nation’s flag for the first time on Aug 31, 1957 also received the KMN.

At the investiture held at the Istana Negara here, national diver Cheong Jun Hoong was among 206 people conferred the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN) while 241 people received the Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN). — Bernama
