Annual Christmas Parade goes into full swing

KUCHING: Excited faces can be seen almost everywhere as the annual Kuching Christmas Parade went into full swing with more than 14,000 participants at the flag-off point held at Jubilee Ground starting at 7pm today.

The spirit of Christmas was definitely in the atmosphere as joyful voices filled up the air with Christmas carols, which were followed suit by the march of eight brass bands.

Adding another crowd puller to the mix was 16 heavily decorated Christmas floats, costume displays and street performers to entertain and give out small gifts to the by-standers along the parade route.

With the theme ‘Hope in Jesus Christ’ , the parade will be making its way from Jubilee Ground to HSBC roundabout – Jalan Padungan – Jalan Tun Abdul Rahim (Kuching Waterfront) – Lebuh Temple (Harbour View Hotel) – Lebuh Wayang (Star Cineplex) – Jalan Tabuan (Ting & Ting Supermarket and Borneo Hotel) – Jalan Ban Hock (Grand Continental Hotel and MBKS flats) – and back to Jubilee Ground.

Prior to the start of the parade, a praise and worship was also held at Jubilee Ground at 6.30pm.

Organised by the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) together with the Methodist Church SCAC -as the main organising church, the parade is also and supported by Kuching Ministers’ Fellowship.

The participating churches are the Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church, Methodist Church SCAC, Methodist Church SIAC, BEM (SIB) Church, The Seventh-Day Adventist Church, The Salvation Army, Sarawak Baptist Church, Blessed Church, Hope Church Kuching, Calvary Family Church, Gereja Grace Sentral (AOG), GIS Gospel Harvest Kuching, Sarawak Grace Church, Good News Fellowship, City Harvest Church, Fellowship of Evangelical Students (FES) and Latter Rain Church Kuching.
