KUCHING: Residents of Dalat block at the KMC flat complex along Jalan Ban Hock here were left stunned after a woman fell to her death yesterday.

The woman, later identified as a 68-year-old from Jalan Batu Lintang, fell from the fifth storey of the block, with police ruling out foul play.

Several residents, when met at the scene, said they rushed out of their respective units around 8.15am after hearing a loud sound, and were shocked to see the victim lying unresponsive on the ground.

They believe the victim, who is not a resident of their complex, had made her way to the top of their block before falling to her death.

The residents also said they found a letter, written in Chinese, being held by the deceased which, among other things, listed the contact number of her son.

“We called the number in the letter and told the son what had happened,” said one resident.

Meanwhile, district police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said initial investigation ruled out any element of foul play in the woman’s death, with the woman’s body sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem.
