SIBU: Two trainees of Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) in Mukah took home the prestigious Industry Awards at the 20th PPKS / International College of Advanced Technology (i-CATS) convocation recently.

Izzuddin Ajwad Mohamad Amin and Nurul Haina Mohd Senusi both took Malaysia Skills Certificate (SKM) programmes at PPKS Mukah – the former studied Phase 1: Electric Maintenance and Installation, while the latter took the Computer System Operation course.

Izzudddin was awarded for his good performance during the industrial training under Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhdm, whereas Nurul was recognised for good internship with Trac-Wheels (M) Sdn Bhd.

The PPKS/i-CATS Industry Award is a programme that recognises the contribution of the industrial sector towards the success and excellence achieved by the PPKS/iCATS trainees.

“It is also the manifestation of cooperation and continuous support from industries to the PPKS/iCATS Group in producing competent human capital needed in the development of Sarawak in particular, and Malaysia as a whole,” said PPKS/iCATS in a statement.

Forty-one trainees from PPKS Mukah were among the graduates attending the recent convocation in Kuching, where Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg officiated at the opening ceremony.

The convocation also included students from PPKS/i-CATS Miri, PPKS Savti, Sarawak Electrical Industry Training Institute (Seiti) and Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (Awisar).
