Bomba personnel prepare to bring a fire ‘victim’ to the hospital for treatment.

LAWAS: The atmosphere at the Lawas Federal Complex was a little frantic yesterday when ‘fire’ broke out at the third floor of the building.

Civil servants rushed out of the building to a safe area while security guards assisted in alerting the public who were at the National Registration and Immigration offices.

Soon, personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in one fire tender and van arrived at the scene to douse the fire.

Firefighters also helped to rescue a civil servant trapped on the third floor of the Unity Department’s Office before sending the victim to the hospital.

The scenario was part of a fire drill organised jointly by the Lawas Federal Complex Common Use Committee with Bomba in preparation for any possiblity of fire outbreak.
