New Zealand’s governor-general visits Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka

MELAKA: Yesterday was the most memorable day for the students and staff of the Kolej Yayasan Saad (KYS), Ayer Keroh here as they welcomed Dame Patsy Reddy, the New Zealand’s Governor-General, to the college in conjunction with her state visit to Malaysia.

She is on a four-day maiden state visit at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.

Attired in an orange dress, Dame Patsy arrived at the college at 2.50pm and was greeted by KYS Education Group founder Tan Sri Halim Saad and KYS principal Tan Cheh Li.

During the tour of the college, which lasted more than one hour, she was accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia, John Subritzky.

Dame Patsy also signed the college’s visitors guest book and, in appreciation of her visit, she was presented with souvenirs by Halim.

She also spent time to share information and her experience with the teaching staff, apart from visiting the teacher’s rooms and mingling with the students of the college.

Later she is scheduled to meet Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob in his office at Ayer Keroh before proceeding to visit a number of places here, including Christ Church and Jonker Walk in Bandar Hilir. — Bernama
