KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan urged organisations to join hands with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) and Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen) in fighting drug abuse.
He said drug addicts who had gone through rehabilitation must develop skills necessary to lead an independent life in the society.
As such, he opined that more organisations could come in to play a role in reaching out to these individuals who had determined to turn over a new leaf and were ready to be part of the community again.
“When they become clean again, they must have some sorts of skills in order to secure a job in our society. Without any skills, they won’t be able to find a job.
“They can be guided and trained so that they can make an income to support themselves. Equipping them with skills can help them seek employment and lead an independent life,” he said at an appreciation dinner for strategic friends of Puspen Kuching at a hotel here last night.
