PENAMPANG: Anak Negeri is not a small group but constitutes the bulk of the population of Sabah, and Parti Anak Negeri (PAN) has already formally embraced the Chinese community as Anak Negeri, said its Penampang chief coordinator Dr Edwin Bosi.

He pointed out that it only took one pebble for David to destroy the might of giant Goliath.

“In our case, we have five pebbles that will change the political landscape of Sabah,” Dr Bosi said in a statement issued Saturday in conjunction with the soft opening of the party’s operation office at Donggongon township.

The Kapayan assemblyman was referring to the five pebbles on the wings of the hornbill in PAN logo which he said represent the five principles of the party.

“Briefly, they are the fight for the dignity of Anak Negeri, freedom of religion as guaranteed by the Batu Sumpah, defending the Constitution and the rights of the Anak Negeri, the Native Customary Rights to land and full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he explained.

The opening of PAN operation office in Penampang will facilitate and accelerate its activities, he said.

“With a new office at Donggongon township, the party will be able to serve, provide information, engage and communicate with the public more effectively,” he added.

Dr Bosi said the public can always come to the office to check their voting status and to learn more about the aims and objectives of Parti Anak Negeri.

“The hornbill has now landed in Penampang, the heartland of the Kadazan people,” he told supporters who attended a simple opening ceremony of the office.

“We have already made known that Parti Anak Negeri in Penampang will continue the political struggle of the Golden Son of the Kadazan, Datuk Peter Mojuntin, who believed in justice, equality and freedom.

“Our party will continue to be guided by Peter Mojuntin’s vision of giving hope, strength and courage to the people to withstand the agonies of oppression,” he said, adding that no one can replace Datuk Peter but we in Parti Anak Negeri will emulate his quality of speaking up without fear.

Present at the soft opening of the office were members of Anak Negeri supreme council, including Sylvester Disimon (deputy president) and Thomas Tsen (treasurer).

PAN president Datuk Henrynus Amin also dropped by the office on his way to attend an important appointment.
