SARIKEI: A family of seven lost almost all of their belongings after fire razed their rented house at Jalan Sharif Mashor, here yesterday.
No injuries were reported as the family was away when the fire broke out around 10am.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) district chief Suna Kaha said his men scrambled to the scene upon receiving a distress call and arrived to discover the fire had already gutted about 60 per cent of the structure.
The situation was brought under control within minutes and the fire was put out after about an hour, he said.
The cause of the fire and total loss suffered by the family has yet to be ascertained.
