Head-on crash leaves motorcyclist with broken leg

KUCHING: A motorcyclist sustained a broken leg following a head-on collision with a car at Tabuan Desa, here yesterday.

The incident took place in a residential area about 8am when the 44-year-old victim was making his way to the city.

The impact of the collision flung the victim off his machine and onto the road, resulting in a fractured left leg and several other injuries.

He was taken to Sarawak General Hospital and admitted for further treatment.

In a separate incident, a compact car was destroyed after it caught fire near a Muslim cemetery at Kampung Buntal on Monday night.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call at 11.35pm and dispatched personnel from the Petra Jaya fire station to the scene.

Firemen doused the flames within five minutes of their arrival and ended the operation at 11.49pm after ensuring the situation was safe, said the spokesperson.
