MIRI: Jelllin Law carded a 67 to win the nett category of the Ladies Captain Birthday Charity Golf of the Miri Golf Club (KGM) last Sunday.

Coming in as runner-up and third were Lynda Bala with a 69 and Patricia Lipang another two strokes adrift.

The captain Marilyn Raja-Wright finished fifth with a 73.

Top three in the gross category were Theresa Wong (79), Candy Sim (92) and a guest golfer from the UK Julia Raja (95).

Over 30 golfers including two from Peninsular Malaysia took part in the event held in conjunction with Marilyn’s birthday.

A total of RM10,150 was raised for two charitable bodies – Palliative Care Association Miri (PCAM) and Miri Methodist Children’s Home – while Marilyn also donated her RM400 prize money to the Home.

56 ‘ang pau’, which were also given out to children present in conjunction with Marilyn’s 56th birthday, were donated by Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim of Kedah.

Marilyn thanked all those who supported the charity event which has raised RM53,900 since 2012.

PCAM has been a beneficiary for three consecutive years while it was the first time for the Children’s Home. The charity project Sunflower Centre benefitted in the first three years of the event’s 6-year history.
