KUCHING: The disappearance of an Egyptian pathologist Dr Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Sakr has not triggered any criminal suspicion.
State Criminal Investigations Department (CID) head SAC Datuk Dev Kumar, in stating this, said investigations showed that Dr Ahmed left the state on Dec 7.
It is learnt that the pathologist had been attached to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) under Health Ministry contract since 2006.
“He boarded a flight from Kuching at 6.55pm on Dec 7, and arrived at KLIA2 at 8.40pm. CCTV (footage) checks at KLIA2 confirmed that Dr Ahmed safely landed at KLIA2 – he was alone,” said Dev in a statement yesterday.
The Bukit Aman Interpol, he pointed out, also informed the Egyptian Embassy in Malaysia to check on the status of Dr Ahmed by contacting his family in Cairo.
Moreover he said upon further probe, it is revealed that Dr Ahmed had booked a Dec 23 flight to Cairo from Kuala Lumpur. The state CID was prompted to investigate the case after a SGH medical officer lodged a missing person’s report at Satok police station on Dec 12.
The complainant was worried after Dr Ahmed failed to turn up for work since Dec 8.
A check on his rented apartment at Chong Lin Plaza here led to a dead end, prompting the SGH medical officer to lodge a police report.
