KUCHING: Southern Zone dominated Sukan Sarawak (SukSar) 2017 road race cycling on Thursday and yesterday when they made a clean sweep of six gold medals offered in the event held at Jalan FAC Matang.

In yesterday’s competition where four gold medals were offered, Muhd Luqman Daniel Mohd Roji won the men’s individual time trial while Western Zone’s Mark Wong Wizhe and Central Zone’s Tie Xian Seng were second and third respectively.

Lai Tsae Yuan took the gold in the women’s 15km individual time trial, with Nurul Izzah Hamdin of Western Zone and Britney Ng of Northern Zone in second and third place.

The men’s 1,000m sprint saw Jackson Kho Jia Xi taking the gold while Lawrence Hii Jin Loong of Central Zone and Muhammad Faiz Jelan were second and third respectively.

Lai Tsae Yuan claimed her third gold in Suksar when she won the women’s 500m sprint, followed by Nurul Izzah and Sharon Yii Chiew Hua in second and third place.

Southern Zone won Thursday’s two golds in the men’s and women’s criterium through Muhammad Faiz Jelan and Lai Tsae Yuan.
