MIRI: Two men were produced before the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday on charges of illegal possession of methamphetamine.
Choo Sze Lim, 48, from Bakam Road and Liaw Chee Siang, 23, from Sungai Dalam, Taman Tunku, here are charged under Section 12 (2) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The two may face up to RM100,000 in fine and/or five years in jail if found guilty.
Based on the brief facts of the case, both the accused were found to possess 1.26g of methamphetamine. They were apprehended inside a house at Cordia Road in Bakam at 11.30am on Dec 11 this year.
Methamphetamine is listed in Part III on the First Schedule under the Dangerous Drugs Act DDA 1952 (Act 234). Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa fixed Jan 5 next year for further mention of the case.
