LIMBANG: A Bruneian got a shock when he found out that his car parked at the road shoulder of a village road in Limbang was burnt last Friday in a suspected arson attack.

The 32-year-old self-employed victim was informed by his elder brother via telephone call that the car was found burnt at the road in Kampung Lubuk Piasau.

OCPD Limbang Supt Mohd Mukhori Saffai today confirmed that a report has been lodged on the incident and that initial investigation suggested that the fire might have been caused by arson as the fuel cap was opened.

Personal documents of the victim inside the car were also destroyed in the fire.

“The fuel cap was opened and we suspect arson although we do not have any suspect yet, “ he said.

Losses are estimated to be about RM15,000.

The case is being investigated under Section 436 of the Penal Code for arson by fire.
