KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police  (PDRM) will call former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad to give a statement next week on the issue of the transfer of title of the agency’s land in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said at present, PDRM was only taking statements from other witnesses comprising officers of the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Felda as well as the District and Land Offices.

“What is important is the statement from the complainant in the police report on Dec 12. Maybe tomorrow or the day after, PDRM will get his statement when he arrives in Kuala Lumpur.

“We will look into it and we will retrieve all documents on how the decision was made, and of course we know that Tan Sri Isa Samad was Felda chairman (at that time) and he was involved in the decision to invest,” he said at a press conference held after attending a ceremony for the Pinning of Promotion Ranks on PDRM Senior Officers at the Senior Officers’ Mess in Bukit Aman, here yesterday.

Noor  Rashid said the case was being investigated under Section 420/471 of the Penal Code for cheating and using forged documents.

He said the PDRM would analyse all recorded statements and documents it obtained before finalising the investigation soon.

Last Friday, PDRM set up a special team to conduct investigations into the case of the loss of four pieces of Felda land in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Isa was Felda chairman from 2011 until January 2017,  chairman of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) from Jan 1, 2011 until June 19 this year, and chairman of Felda Investment Corporation since it was set up on July 2,  2013 until  2017.

On Dec 21, the media reported that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of land strategically located on Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, which was estimated to be worth RM200 million which had been transferred in a ‘dubious’ transaction in 2015.

The transfer of title for the land was believed to have been made when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014 and awarded it full power of attorney to develop the land.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony yesterday, the recipients included the Special Unit Head Deputy Director E6 Datuk Mohamed Farid Abu Hassan who was promoted to Deputy Director E1 Bukit Aman and Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters Datuk Jamaludin Kudin promoted to the rank of Pahang Deputy Police Chief. — Bernamaa
