KUCHING: This Saturday’s inaugural Kuching Power Lifting Meet (KPM) will be the first of many fitness related events such as weightlifting and functional fitness throw down to be organised by CrossFit Kuching this year, said its affiliate owner Carter Wei.

“Our goals and vision has always been to make Kuching a healthier and fitter city.

“It is the main reason why we are in this industry, and with our passionate and committed team we are seeing the cultural change in Kuching towards a healthier city,” he disclosed.

KPM will kick off with the Paralympic Bench event at 9.45am after the opening ceremony and the other two events to be competed are Squat and Deadlift.

Members of the public are encouraged to catch the action at Crossfit Kuching.

Powerlifting comprises three disciplines namely Squat, Bench and Deadlift.

Two categories will be contested – Men’s Open Weight Class and  Women’s Open Weight Class – with 28 competitors from all over Malaysia in total.

Final scores will be calculated using the Reshel formula which takes into account the individual’s bodyweight. Wei is thankful to various sponsors for their support of the event.
