KUCHING: The Sarawak government is waiting for Putrajaya to name a representative for the special committee to proceed with the state’s pursuance of devolution of power.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the special committee comprised the three deputy chief ministers of Sarawak and a representative from the federal government.

Speaking at a news conference after chairing the first state Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council meeting here today, he said the second phase of devolution of power touched on the state’s constitutional rights.

He added that issues on constitutional rights are delicate matters that had to be dealt with based on hard facts and documents.

Abang Johari said the meeting also deliberated on issues about how Sarawak would move forward and achieve a developed status by 2030.

He said all state BN component parties had agreed on having a common platform for Sarawak to move forward, be it socially, politically or economically.
