Civil servant seriously injured in collision

KENINGAU: A civil servant was seriously injured when the Toyota Fortuner vehicle he was driving collided with a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck at Km 15, Keningau-Kimanis Road, early yesterday morning.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jawila said the 37-year-old victim, who worked as a driver for Sabah State Computer Services Department, suffered severe left rib injuries in the 5.50am incident, while the Toyota Hilux driver, a 21-year-old local man only sustained minor injuries.

He said that on January 12 at about 6.20am, a traffic police personnel from the district police headquarters received information regarding the incident from members of the public.

“Investigations at the scene found that the Toyota Hilux was from Keningau while the  Toyota Fortuner was from the opposite direction.”

He said the driver of the Toyota Fortuner lost control of the vehicle and entered into the right lane and collided with theToyota Hilux.

Ahmad said the Fortuner driver was rushed to Keningau Hospital for treatment, and the case was being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
