PETALING JAYA: The remand order for actor Datuk Farid Kamil has been extended for another day to facilitate further investigation into his alleged criminal assault against a policeman and two civilians at the Kota Damansara police station last Thursday.

The extension of the remand order was issued by Magistrate Court Deputy Registrar Hairul Azhar Mohd under Section 90 of the Police Act, Section 323 and 353 of the Penal Code and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Clad in blue denim shirt and purple lockup pants, the barefoot 37-year-old actor was taken to the court for the remand proceeding at 11.30am.

The father of two was seen waving to the media and members of the public who were taking his picture before shaking hands with fellow actors, Azad Jazmin and Azhan  Rani.

Also present was his brother Fadzil Bahari Zahari.

While being taken to the awaiting police vehicle after the proceeding, reporters asked Farid if he was okay and he said: “Okay, Alhamdulillah (All praise be to Allah), I’m grateful to Allah that everything goes smoothly. Thank you all.”

Last Friday, Farid, represented by lawyer Athari Bahardin, was remanded for four days to assist the police in their investigation into four cases related to disorderly conduct, voluntarily causing hurt, obstruction of a public servant in the performance of duty, and drug abuse.

Farid was detained on Thursday after he allegedly slapped the 24-year-old policeman and kicking the civilians when he came to the Kota Damansara police station to lodge an accident report. — Bernama
