Riot announced the matter to the media after chairing the first TVET Malaysia ministerial coordination meeting involving seven ministries here yesterday.

According to the Human Resources Ministry’s statement, the meeting discussed, among others, the formulation of TVET master plan, which is expected to be ready by October 2018, involving industry engagement model, TVET financing model, matching demand to supply, strategic collaboration among TVET providers and efforts to achieve 35 per cent of skilled workforce by 2020.

Riot also announced the appointment of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology founder and president, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, as TVET Malaysia adviser.

“Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing has contributed significantly in the development of TVET.

“With the introduction of TVET Malaysia, the contribution of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is even bigger especially on the branding of TVET Malaysia,” he added.

TVET Malaysia under the Human Resources Ministry was launched by the prime minister in September 2017 following the rebranding of TVET programmes and institutions previously under seven ministries.
