Members of the joint operation force are seen questioning four workers detained at one of the two construction sites raided yesterday.

MIRI: Six Suluks were among 13 people arrested here yesterday for not possessing valid documents during a joint operation by the General Operation Force (GOF) and Immigration Department.

The 13 workers, including two women, were detained at two construction sites at Jalan Luak and Airport Road.

GOF Battalion 12 commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng, in a statement, said 60 workers were inspected during the joint operation.

“Thirteen of the workers were found without valid documents. Six are Suluk and the rest, Indonesian,” he said, adding those detained are aged between 18 and 60 years.

In addition, Tan said two local men, believed to be the workers’ employers, were also arrested for investigation.

“The foreign workers have been sent to the Bekenu Immigration Depot. The case has been handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.”
