KUCHING: Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) Sarawak workshops and programmes last year saw a 60 per cent increase in participation compared to 2016.
State director Tengku Azmi Tengku Majid said 2,241 participants took part in 76 capacity development programmes in 2017.
“This number of participants is 60 per cent more than that of 2016. It goes to show that more corporations are keen about enhancing productivity,” he said during the ‘Business Excellence as a Tool for Organisational Sustainability’ workshop yesterday.
A total of 25 participants from both the public and private sectors attended the one-day workshop.
Azmi said MPC Sarawak’s role is to ensure corporations in the state could perform well and be role models for their counterparts in Peninsular Malaysia.
“We will carry on our efforts to conduct more workshops and programmes to gain momentum and aim for more achievements this year,” he added.
When opening the workshop, MPC Sarawak board member Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg said the organisation had achieved targets in all aspects last year.
“There were more programmes last year and all had received good responses from the public and private sectors,” he said.
“I’ve told them earlier that we should not confine ourselves to Kuching. So this year, they organise more BE (Business Excellence) workshops in not just Kuching but also Sibu, Miri and Bintulu. I hope the same support and response can be recorded in these regions.”
MPC Sarawak will hold similar workshops in Sibu (Feb 21 and May 2), Miri (March 20 and July 26), Bintulu (April 5 and Aug 15), and Kuching (April 24, Sept 19 and Oct 10).
